Pig Convinces Child to Call Police on Meat EatersThis is exactly what we hope happens when people meet our pigs. Our new friend William had the exact reaction that we think everyone should have after coming face to face with a pig. #powerofthepig Mini Pig Millie gets a new dress and transforms into a princess pig. Thanks to the after Valentine's Day sale on dog dresses, Millie got here lovely new dress and was instantly transformed into a princess pig. She had a great day out in Colonial Williamsburg showing off her new look as people fell in love with her and many reconsidered the idea of ever eating any part of a pig again. Piglet Love Playing in the WoodsMillie (the 8 month old piglet) loves to play in the woods. I take her out there to let her run and explore and also because I'm still working on getting her to let me carry her. And she can be as loud as a siren when I pick her up sometimes. So, in the woods she can be a little loud without us disturbing our neighbors here in our condo complex. And Millie has so much fun rooting through the leaves. But, she's also great about following along as I walk. Just like people do with dogs, you can easily teach a pig to go on a hike and love it. All three of our pigs enjoy getting to experience the great outdoors (beyond just the normal grazing in the grass). So, if you live with a pig or are considering it, keep in mind that they love to explore new places. The forest provides all kinds of stimulation and new experiences to keep your pigs active and happy! Here is video showing the joy Millie gets when we go for our walks. The Unlikely Friendship Between A Puppy and a PigEmmie the Yorkie finally found a friend her size. To do this, it required meeting Elden the piglet. At first, Emmie was her usual distrustful self. She's learned to enjoy the company of her human family and her three larger pig sisters. But, Elden was just the right size to win over Emmie. I've never seen Emmie play and get so puppy-like (she's actually 9 years old now). So, check out this musical montage to their friendship! Now, if you are wondering if he is a micro pig or a teacup pig, I should make it clear that there is really no such things as a micro or teacup pig. Elden is a piglet. That is why he is small. Most pig experts agree that it is very unlikely to meet a pig that is healthy and remains under 50 pounds. Pig Parade Up the StairsEvery day, for the last year and a few months, I've been carrying at least two pigs down and then back up the stairs. Fortunately, our largest pig (so far) Pumpkin is only 75 pounds. And if Charlotte or Millie should happen to grow beyond my carrying capacity, we would move. And, even if they don't, we hope to someday be able to get a house with a door that just opens to the outside with no stairs. But, for now, this is the process I go through to make sure the girls get outside and get to roam around, graze, and return to the earth what isn't absorbed in the digestive process ;) if you catch my meaning. Through it all, I love life with pigs!
