Upcoming Volunteer Events:
Group Volunteer Day - Saturday, December 20th from 12:00pm - 2:30pm
Group Volunteer Day - Saturday, January 17th 12:00pm - 2:30pm
All ages are welcome; those under 18 must be accompanied by an adult.
If you have a special group (work, school, etc.) that would like to volunteer one a one-time basis, please contact us to inquire about needs and availability.
Weekly Volunteer Opportunities
Weekly Animal Care Volunteers (Morning or Evening)
Weekly animal care volunteers come on a set schedule once or twice a week - either morning or evening. Morning shifts start between 8:00-8:30, and take about 1.5-2 hours. Evening shifts depend on the time of year - summer shifts start about 6:00pm, while winter shifts start about 3:00pm, with fall and spring somewhere in between. So more flexibility is needed for evening volunteers.
Weekly Special Project Volunteers (Daytime)
Weekly special projects volunteers come one or two days a week during the day for a 2 hour shift and work on special projects - these will be varied but more labor intensive. It might include loading/unloading hay, barn clean-outs, digging projects, moving manure piles, fixing fences, etc. The start time for special project volunteers is more flexible than for animal care volunteers, but will still be a set day of the week.
Weekly volunteer positions are typically for adults, and may include older teenagers as long as they are always accompanied by an adult.
We ask for a 6 month commitment for all weekly positions.
To start, please sign up for a group volunteer day to get a sense of the sanctuary and the animals, and if you are interested in a weekly position, we will schedule a date to train you. If you are unable to attend a group volunteer day, please contact us instead.
