Welcome Sassy the 29 year old mitered conure! And her name is very fitting and as she is filled with personality. She can be super sweet and seems to love kisses and sitting on our shoulders. But don't touch her toys unless you are ready to see a beak flying at you.
Sassy lived with her human mother for the first 29 years of her life. And her mom was her person! She loved her so much and was loved right back. So, when her mother passed away, finding a perfect home for the adored parrot was a top priority. She is suffering from Proventricular Dilatation Disease and so cannot be around other parrots. At 29, she is very old for her type of parrot. While we typically focus on farm animals, we felt we would be a perfect fit for this spirited little girl. Out of love for Sassy and their family member, the family has ensured that her medicinal costs for her illness will be covered. Sassy has an enclosed aviary area where she can spend her sunset days feeling apart of the great outdoors. She gets so excited to experience outside while on my shoulder and now she enjoys getting to be outside for parts of the day while being completely protected. We are so happy to have Sassy here and hope you will welcome her with us! |
