Pig and Chicken draw crowds and promote animal rights. This was our day pretty much nonstop for 5 hours yesterday. Crowds of people wanting to watch, meet and take pictures of Beatrice and Pumpkin. And so many walked away seeing things differently than they had. Many outright saying they were done eating animals.

Pigs are great cuddlers. They love to snuggle in close and hate when you leave. They make napping seem like a skill they've been working on professionally.
How Beatrice and Pumpkin Veganized a Family Last NightHow Beatrice and Pumpkin Veganized a Family Last Night On her first outing Beatrice the chicken was making a big impression on people. Pumpkin and she make an amazing activism team. For one, Beatrice loves Pumpkin. She pretty much stayed close to Pumpkin the whole time we were out. Sometimes she even ate weeds and grass right out of Pumpkin's mouth. And Pumpkin was completely fine with this. They seemed like they had become immediate pals. The biggest impact they made last night rivaled anything I've seen before while doing activism. A mother and her two daughters had come over to meet Pumpkin and Beatrice. And when they heard me say that chickens have been shown in many ways to be as smart as dogs, the mom said, "Wait, are you being serious?" And you could see this pained look of realization come across her face. So, we talked a little bit. And it was clear that her and her daughters were shocked to realize how misinformed they'd been their whole lives about the health impacts of eating meat, eggs, and dairy as I talked about the China Study and many of the most recent findings regarding the benefits of plant-based eating. And when the mom said that she understood that historically humans had been omnivores in regards to our digestive and body make up. But, when I explained the length of our digestive tract and the embarrassing nature of calling our canine teeth true meat eating teeth, the three of them were again disappointed to discover how misinformed our world likes to keep people. And then I sealed the fate of this notion by asking if she thought she'd be appetized watching me stab Pumpkin, or by the smell of blood or rotting flesh? This truly destroyed any thought that humans were meant to eat meat. They knew, unlike a lion, they would be horrified by every aspect of 'carnivorous' behavior and reactions. We also talked about many of the ways animals are mistreated. And this greatly disturbed them. They were clearly compassionate people that had just been ill-informed. They left eager to learn more (I suggested some documentaries). And one of the daughters outright said I'd convinced her to want to go vegan. The mom said something similar in not so many words. And the last words the mom said was that they were about to go eat and she was certain the conversation had entirely changed what they would be ordering. And all this started from meeting Beatrice the chicken and Pumpkin the pig and hearing me say that chickens have been shown to rival the intelligence of dogs. I thought it was powerful for people to meet pigs. Apparently, meeting a pig and a chicken together is a one-two punch of activism. And the best part is that Pumpkin and Beatrice were having a great time eating grass together and bonding. And, I don't have to seek out or approach a single person. They come to me wanting to meet my lovely animal friends. Thank you to my friend Lexi for joining us and helping make sure that Beatrice stayed safe on her first activism adventure. Adopt an older pig, you won't regret it!Pumpkin spreads the vegan messagePumpkin was meeting hundreds of kids today with all the school groups out in Colonial Williamsburg. And they were reading all her buttons and so many were saying things like they didn't want to eat animals anymore. We also met people from countries around the world visiting on vacation, helping her message cross the globe as people shared pictures with friends back home. And all Pumpkin had to do was be a pig, eat grass, get treats and be loved on.
Vegan Cartoon takes on the FBIFBI threatens to put animal activists of DxE in jail for life for rescuing to sick piglets. Hilarious cartoon shows just how ridiculous our government has become (or maybe has always been). The Carnies is a Vegan Animated Cartoon. WARNING: Adult humor - Not Appropriate for anyone, but adored by all. Their crime? Rescuing 2 Sick Pigs and Exposing Animal AbuseThis is the land of the free in 2018? People rescuing suffering victims of a brutal industry threatened with 60 years in jail? Why isn't Smithfield being punished as severely for the families they poisoned in North Carolina. They got a tiny slap on the wrist with a meaningless fine to a billion dollar company for endangering the lives of humans and ruining their homes and neighborhoods.
Yet, Wayne Hsiung could spend the rest of his life in jail for rescuing two piglets while wearing better biosecurity equipment than Smithfield Employees wear. And while otherwise damaging and stealing nothing of value to Smithfield. Yes, exposing the truth about animal abuse and saving innocent lives can get you life in prison, unless you are a large corporation like Smithfield who can buy influence in the government and the FBI. Do you still believe we are free in this country? Or are we merely freedom's slaves (enslaved by the illusion of being free, preventing us from rebelling and creating a truly just society)? I left last night at around 1 in the morning to drive to Wallace, North Carolina. The last thing I saw before leaving was my three happy girls laying together so cozy and content. But, the pigs in Wallace are not so happy. They are laying in their own filth. Their bodies are broken from a few years of abuse and torment. They had baby after baby. Their bodies weakened and atrophied from not being able to move, walk or stretch. Confined to small stalls where they could merely lay next to their babies for a few short weeks before they were taken away only to have the process started over again (and this is standard practice for nearly all pigs used for food production).
And when they were no longer as useful to their tormentors, they were taken to this holding pen where the pictured pig was pictured looking terrified. Many sit for up to a week without food or water. Some die before they are taken to slaughter. All suffer. And why? So that humans can eat something for a taste they crave. But, how do we justify treating these living beings as mere objects? They share so much in common with us. They desire to live, be free, and care for their young. It becomes far more disturbing when you realize the question is not what you will eat, but rather 'WHO' you ate. Enlighten others to the reality that we have a choice every day to cause suffering or not. Choose to eat something, not someone. And you can help us get some of these pigs to a real sanctuary to help spread their story so that someday no pig will suffer this fate!
