Their crime? Rescuing 2 Sick Pigs and Exposing Animal AbuseThis is the land of the free in 2018? People rescuing suffering victims of a brutal industry threatened with 60 years in jail? Why isn't Smithfield being punished as severely for the families they poisoned in North Carolina. They got a tiny slap on the wrist with a meaningless fine to a billion dollar company for endangering the lives of humans and ruining their homes and neighborhoods.
Yet, Wayne Hsiung could spend the rest of his life in jail for rescuing two piglets while wearing better biosecurity equipment than Smithfield Employees wear. And while otherwise damaging and stealing nothing of value to Smithfield. Yes, exposing the truth about animal abuse and saving innocent lives can get you life in prison, unless you are a large corporation like Smithfield who can buy influence in the government and the FBI. Do you still believe we are free in this country? Or are we merely freedom's slaves (enslaved by the illusion of being free, preventing us from rebelling and creating a truly just society)?
