This was the last video we took of our little boy. This was this morning just hours before he passed. Arthur was just so happy and loved being with his ‘flock’. Even when mom was brushing her teeth. We are really struggling with losing him. We thought he would be here for so much longer and our hearts are absolutely broken. We aren't sure exactly what happened, but he went from being fine, to flying towards the door, to getting his wing caught in it just before it closed. We quickly opened the door to get him unstuck, and physically he did not seem to be severely injured. However, he panicked from the situation and seemed distressed, so we quickly got in the car and sped off to the closest vet. Unfortunately, he passed in Ryan's arms in the car. We attempted CPR and got him to the vet, but they were unable to save him. Our best guess is that he had a heart attack from the stress of the situation. Looking back, we had noticed other instances where he had gotten himself stuck inside the kitchen cabinets, and was breathing very heavily. We suspect he may have had an underlying heart condition that made him more susceptible to this.
Words cannot properly convey how very special Arthur was to us. There will never be anyone like him again. Our house has lost its sparkle. We cannot fully grieve his loss because there are so many other animals who need us, and who deserve our love and attention. In a way it helps us to have the distraction. But on days when we want to stay in bed and cry, we must go on instead. We know that he had a happy life. We are sure that he knew he was deeply loved. He wanted to be with us constantly and was always chatting to us and standing on our heads. We even accepted that there was poop on everything all the time. We would gladly take all the poop in the world to have him back. We love you, our sweet boy. We are so sorry that you weren't here as long as you were supposed to be. We will miss you every day, always. You are our little star.
