Once Sebastian made it through the night, we knew he had a good chance of recovery - though it would be a slow process. Once he had a little more energy back, we brought his best friend Sebastian in to visit him. We could tell how much it cheered him to hear his friend (though he still couldn't see him due to his eyes being swollen shut) and to do "normal" chicken things again. They hung out for a bit and ate dinner near each other. Hearing Jareth eat made Sebastian hungry and helped him to find his food on his own, though he still required hand feeding and watering for a few more days. Finally, one of Sebastian's eyes opened and his head started to heal. He was becoming restless inside, so we let him have some time in the sun with Jareth.

Our Kindness is the Bass-line campaign with Rachel Bolan of Skid Row was a huge success! We raised our goal of $20,000 and Rachel and his wife ditched turkey this year, in honor of his feathered namesake Rachel the turkey. They got to try the Field Roast celebration roast and loved it! It's a win for animals all around.
Yesterday was a BIG day for Tia and her babies, Rachel and Betty. After weeks of spending their days safely in the covered run, we finally let them out into the yard to explore.
Meet Edna: The Goat in the Woods
Life at Life With Pigs Farm Animal Sanctuary is never short on surprises - and our newest rescue story is one for the books. It all began when the sanctuary received a call from someone out on a hiking trail. For the past couple of months, they had noticed a goat wandering the woods. On this particular day, the goat began bleating at them, as if asking for help. The goat was spotted near a bridge several miles down the trail, wearing a collar with cords attached - frayed and chewed, as though once tied but now broken free. That Friday evening, Ryan headed out to the park about 45 minutes away, joined by one of the sanctuary’s brand-new volunteers. The volunteer had planned to spend the evening training at the sanctuary, but without hesitation, she shifted gears to join the search. Tia has always wanted to be a mom. She sat on empty nests, with a heart full of hope, year after year. Finally, we were able to rescue some poults for her to care for. The first was a beautiful little girl named Suzy, who came earlier this year.
But Tia faced an unimaginable loss when her beloved Suzy passed away. In the weeks that followed, she tried to connect with the Puffalumps, but something never quite clicked. Though she longed for companionship, she seemed unable to find the bond she was searching for and was still grieving the loss of her daughter. |
