On October 8, Quincy and Betty made the trip to Stahl Exotic Animal Veterinary Services together. We came home with some very reassuring news about Quincy—and more questions about Betty.
Quincy has been part of the Life With Pigs family since he was a tiny baby. Now eight years old, he has spent years strutting around the sanctuary, keeping an eye on visitors, peeking through our windows, and enjoying his beloved blueberries. We want him to have many more years of doing exactly those things. Last year, serious infections in his toes threatened his ability to walk comfortably. His treatment included surgery and, ultimately, the amputation of his left middle toe. At the time, we were worried about how he would manage without it, especially because his other foot had problems of its own.

An Update on Betty
We had really hoped Betty’s zinc poisoning was finally behind her, but her latest bloodwork has given us reason to worry again. One of the blood values we use to watch for anemia has dropped. She isn’t anemic yet, but the change is concerning, and we don’t want to wait for her to feel as bad as she did in April. |
