Is it possible to take violent, racist and homophobic words out of context?
I'm having a hard time understanding something. Locally here in Virginia, the police have always been clear to say that the words of Scott Braglio of Braglio Farms were unacceptable. But, in Maryland, I've yet to have an official condemn the threatening, racist, and homophobic words of Braglio.
Most recently, the Deputy State's Attorney of Baltimore Co. Maryland John Cox made it a point to say that he felt Braglio's words were taken out of context. He said he had listened to the full audio of our conversation, but his words seemed to indicate otherwise. Because I'm not sure how threatening to shoot someone, homophobia and racism are out of context no matter how presented. Add to it, that Mr. Cox agreed that Braglio had broken a Maryland law but was not going to press charges against him because he felt because I had called Braglio to offer to buy Sophie the calf back from him that I had somehow provoked Braglio's words. In short, by calling Braglio to offer to participate in what farmers do, buy an animal from him, I had justified the violent, threatening, homophobic, and racist words Braglio unleashed for the next 15 minutes.
Mind you, Mr. Cox sent me an email in regards to the complaints I was filing with him in which he did not address my complaints. Instead, he spent over half his e-mail defending the police of Baltimore County insisting there were no indications of corruption. and then he insisted he was not corrupt either. Which he followed with the gold standard in actions someone that is not corrupt does, he asked me to not record his voice during our phone call. Ya know... because he's got nothing to hide. And the minute he picked up the phone, he immediately reminded me that no part of this call could be recorded. Strange how afraid a public official is to go on the record in regards to this matter.
I truly just wish the people of Maryland had public officials looking out for justice and not the moneyed interests of a farmer that brags of police corruption working in his favor. The Baltimore County police and Mr. Cox seem annoyed that we are questioning police corruption after the complete disregards for justice in regards to a severely neglected calf. Are they equally annoyed that Scott Braglio claimed that he was using their corruption to his favor?
And with a little digging I was able to find a few court cases related to Scott Braglio and one was for a peace order in which one of the complaints was that the words 'move nigger' were written on the door to the barn that an African American woman was renting from Mr. Braglio. This seems to be on par with his character established during our 15 minute phone conversation where he said he thought I needed to be 'raped by some big dick nigger to treat you like a real animal.' Racism seems to be in the air in relation to things Braglio is connected to. A quick scan of the Yelp reviews of his strip club The Millstream Inn supports this. Several reviews mention the racism of the management there. There is a saying: If the shoe fits, wear it. And in this instance, Scott Braglio appears to be our racist Cinderella.
