While mini pigs are often seen as pets and better treated than most pigs, the lives of most mini pigs are far from comfortable or predictable. Over 80% of pigs are rehomed during the lives. Millie was living with 50 other pigs on a farm in Williamsburg, VA when the owner of the land demanded all the pigs be rehomed immediately. With homes for pigs in short supply, friends of ours offered to give Millie a home with their larger pig Ezra. Ezra had other thoughts about this and tried to flip the kitchen table to ask Millie to leave (in pig speak). So, already living with two pigs in a condo (Charlotte and Pumpkin), we figured we could at least watch Millie for a few days to give Ezra a chance to rethink his dislike of Millie. Ezra never changed his mind, and Millie ended up squeezing into the hearts of Charlotte and Pumpkin. So, Millie wound up becoming part of our ‘three little pigs’ that dominate the couch in our living room here at Life with Pigs Farm Animal Sanctuary.
