Charlotte Across America Tour

You may or may not know this, but Charlotte is an animal rights activist pig.  She visits college campuses to try to raise awareness for animals and hopefully get her friends off of people's plates.
We had a good day of leafleting with Vegan Outreach at Old Dominion University. Charlotte and I joined Kimberly Moffatt and Jenn Held in the bitter cold morning to try to catch the students heading to and from class so that we could give them literature on the benefits of going vegan. The cold weather seemed to have things remaining pretty quiet. So, we spent time near the Vegan Outreach iAnimal table inside where people were doing virtual reality tours of what happens to cows, pigs and chickens in factory farm settings.

Charlotte far preferred being inside the Student Union building to being outside. And I appreciate that the University allowed us/looked the other way as we joined the outreach team indoors. Lots of people stopped to get information, do the virtual reality and to meet Charlotte. My favorite part is hearing that meeting Charlotte made someone's day (especially when it is followed by - How could anyone want to eat them?-)  We heard this several times today.
And a lot of people also talked to us about wanting to adopt a mini pig into their lives.  We tried to provide a balance description of life with pigs to make sure everyone thinking about adopting a pig knows what to expect.  One of most important goals is making sure that we help stop the trend of piglet's being purchased and shortly after being abandoned.
But, we know that anyone thinks the choice through will adore living with pigs as much as we do.
