Will You Be One of the 100?
The cost of caring for the animals at Life With Pigs has risen so much that we’re struggling to keep up. If nothing changes, we’ll have to make serious changes to how the sanctuary operates. We’re asking 100 animal lovers to become monthly supporters so we can give everyone the care they deserve without waiting for the next fundraiser.
Huckleberry is one reason this matters so much to us. Last year, bladder stones nearly took his life. His veterinarians weren’t sure he would recover—or whether we could keep the stones from returning if he did. Miraculously, he made it through, and he’s still our sweet, endlessly happy and bouncy little lamb-sheep.
Keeping Huck healthy means finding hay with the right mineral balance and checking its analysis before we buy it. Last year, we worried when that hay reached about $13 a bale.
Our most recent purchase cost $23.50 a bale.
He needs it every day, and the rest of our family members have needs that don’t wait, either.
